Welcome to the Jozi Sewcial Virtual Meet Up! I wanted to create a modern day sewing circle where sewists could get together and enjoy a day of sewing and connecting with each other, unfortunately that dream didn’t pan out with the pandemic and the need to socially distance from each other. The dream is still alive though, I decided to create a Virtual Meet Up, where all sewists are welcome, to connect online. You don’t have to be from Jozi to join, I hope all sewists from South Africa and other countries join, we can connect for a couple of hours. I will create a topic of discussion, bring your favourite drink and connect with other sewists and have some fun. The meet-up will be hosted via google meet (no apps or google account needed), I will share the meeting details via email the morning of the meet up. Let’s chat how we choose fabric to match the the pattern, do we pay attention to pattern suggestions, do you choose fabric first then pattern or pattern first? What are your favourite fabrics to work with? For this very first event, I will be broadcasting live from Metro Lifestyle Centre in Boksburg, they have graciously agreed to open their store to me after hours so you guys can ask me see an example of any fabric. Metro is a beautiful fabric store with an extensive range of beautiful, high quality fabrics. So this will be interactive session of show and tell of fabric loving.
