1. Open Classes
So you’ve recently learnt how to sew, what’s next? I remember when I first learnt to sew after completing my beginners course this whole new world had opened up to me but I still found that I struggled with so many new techniques and projects and I just needed help in the right direction. With open classes, you can bring any project you want and book a 1 hour session or a 3 hour session and I assist you with the pattern or sewing techniques or steps for you to successfully complete your project. - Pattern Making
- Sewing Techniques and Steps
- Professionally finishing garments
- Working with specific fabrics e.g knits
- How you use your sewing machine – threading, cleaning and troubleshooting
- How to use your Overlocker/Serger – threading, cleaning and troubleshooting
This list is not exhaustive, contact me and we can discuss your needs. These classes will not include any notes as they are there to help you build your sewing confidence so you can take your sewing to the next level. Book 3 hours for R600/$50.
2. Sewing a Pattern
In this class, you can choose any pattern you like, I will assist to make the pattern from start to finish and have a beautiful garment to show. I can assist you in my Johannesburg Studio or via zoom, pricing will depend on the time and complexity of your pattern that you have chosen.
What you will learn:
- Taking your measurements
- Choosing what size to trace or cut of your pattern
- Sewing techniques and tips
- Garment finishing options
- fitting issues and adjustments.
You will have a completed garment and more confidence to tackle and pattern for your future sewing projects. The classes will run in 3 hour sessions for a total of 12 hours to have a completed garment. The class is R1800 (to make either a top, dress, skirt, or pants). Prices may vary for more complex garments such as Jacket, button up shirts etc…
3. Sew-alongs
Every month I will hold sewing classes with a small group of people (Max 10 per class) via zoom and we will all either learn to draft a pattern or sew the same pattern together. This class will assist you in building skills and confidence to elevate your sewing. I will announce the sew-along classes via my instagram page every month and provide you with links for pricing and online payments.
What you will learn:
- Taking your measurements
- Choosing the right size (including grading between sizes) to trace or cut of your pattern
- Choosing the right fabric
- Sewing techniques and tips
- Garment finishing options
- fitting issues and adjustments.
You will have a completed garment or pattern at the end of the the course and confidence to continue with your sewing journey. These classes will be held at a specific time and will take place via zoom.
